NetWeaver 7.5 Support until 2030

The SAP note announces regular maintenance of NetWeaver 7.5, Abap and Java stack, until 2027 and extended maintenance until 2030. Thus, like Business Suite 7, the Application Server (NetWeaver AS) has also received an extension of maintenance.

SAP's existing customers will be particularly pleased with the fact that this NetWeaver 7.5 maintenance extension applies to both stacks (Abap and Java) of the Applications Server - even if it is not yet legally clear how the Java stack will be used under licensing law after 2023.

The Abap stack is available to existing SAP customers in the versions NetWeaver AS 7.0 EhP 3, 7.3 EhP 1, 7.4 and 7.5 until 2030. For the Java stack as part of the extended maintenance until 2030, the existing customers must switch to NetWeaver version 7.5 without exception.

At the same time, it became known that the database contract between IBM and SAP has also been extended by another five years - after 2020 now from 2025 to 2030. Insiders suspect that there could also be another contract extension until 2035.

The IBM database DB2 is regarded in the SAP community as an extremely stable and high-performance tool. In contrast, of course, there is the "dream combination" of Hana and IBM Power. Existing SAP customers can choose SoH (Business Suite on Hana) or S/4.

Statements from Microsoft and Oracle on the continued support of the databases in the context of maintenance and extended support until 2030 are are not yet available.
